The Flash will make his final run beginning next month. Details about the final ninth season are starting to emerge, including the return of some familiar faces. We also got the first poster for season nine, see below.

Deadline reports that John Diggle/Spartan (David Ramsey), Wally West/Kid Flash (Keiynan Lonsdale) and Dr. Ramsey Rosso/Bloodwork (Sendhil Ramamurthy) will all guest star in episode 909. Showrunner and executive producer Eric Wallace expressed his excitement for each character’s return.

Ramsey first appeared on the CW/DC flagship show, Arrow. The Flash was the first spin-off of that series, allowing several characters to crossover from time to  time. Diggle appeared in Central City in 10 episodes since season one. Ramsey went on to appear on all of the Arrowverse shows after Arrow ended it’s seven season run.

“As one of the legacy Arrowverse characters who helped start it all, John Diggle holds a special place in our hearts, as well as the fans.” said Wallace. “Plus, the commanding presence and commitment to excellence actor/director David Ramsey brings to the screen each-and every time is truly inspiring. So, of course, it was a no-brainer to have Diggle join Team Flash in our final season! So, get ready for a very emotional reunion as John Diggle aka Spartan helps protect Central City alongside Team Flash one last time.”

Lonsdale joined The Flash in season two as Iris’ kid brother Wally. The only member of the West family to get meta-powers, Wally quickly became a series regular until season five. “We’re so happy to reunite with the incredibly talented Keiynan Lonsdale as a part of The Flash’s final season. Because Kid Flash isn’t just another speedster—he’s a beloved part of our Team Flash family,” said Wallace. “So as soon as we knew he was coming back, we set out to create a special and heartfelt story for his return. The result is a brilliant performance from Keiynan that showcases a side of Wally West you’ve never seen before.”

Ramamurthy played Ramsey Rosso aka Bloodwork in nine episodes in The Flash season six. Wallace admits wanting to find a way to bring him back ever since his “haunting and unforgettable” performance.  “We knew we wanted to have Ramsey play a part in Flash’s final race. Fortunately, everything came together and now the villainous Bloodwork’s return will set into motion one of the Flash’s wildest and most emotional adventures yet,” said Wallace.

In other Flash news, Jon Cor, who plays Mark Blaine/Chillblaine was bumped up to series regular in Season 9. This season promises to put Team Flash to the test with new villains, The Rogues wreaking havoc on Central City. Here’s the synopsis:

After defeating the Reverse Flash once and for all, the 13-episode Season 9 picks up one week later following their epic battle, and Barry Allen (Grant Gustin) and Iris West-Allen (Candice Patton) are reconnecting and growing closer than ever before. But when a deadly group of Rogues descend on Central City led by a powerful new threat, The Flash and his team—Caitlin Snow (Danielle Panabaker), Meta-Empath Cecile Horton (Danielle Nicolet), the light-powered meta Allegra Garcia (Kayla Compton), brilliant tech-nerd Chester P. Runk (Brandon McKnight), and reformed cryogenics thief Mark Blaine (Jon Cor)—must once again defy impossible odds to save the day. But as The Rogues are defeated, a deadly new adversary rises to challenge Barry Allen’s heroic legacy. And in their greatest battle yet, Barry and Team Flash will be pushed to their limits, in order to save Central City one last time.

I expect there to be more announcements about more returning characters. I just hope Carlos Valdes, aka Cisco Ramon makes an appearance. He has to … right?  And what about Tom Cavanagh?  There has to be a Wells at some point on the team.  *Sigh*  So many beloved characters, so little time.

The Flash season nine will have 13 episodes and return to The CW on Wednesday February 8. Check out the first poster from the final season below.
