Amazon reports that in its first four days, the series became the most-watched globally since The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power. It premiered in more than 240 countries and territories. Additionally, the video game adaptation ranked among the streamer’s top three most-watched titles ever.

The series hails from Westworld and The Peripheral‘s Jonathan Nolan and Lisa Joy. Nolan helmed the first three episodes and serves as executive producer alongside Joy. Geneva Robertson-Dworet and Graham Wagner serve as showrunners, writers, executive producers and creators.

Robertson-Dworet and Wagner had this to say regarding the show’s renewal:

“Holy sh*t. Thank you to Jonah, Kilter, Bethesda and Amazon for having the courage to make a show that gravely tackles all of society’s most serious problems these days — cannibalism, incest, jello cake. More to come!”

Season 1 Finale

The Season 1 finale saw Lucy (Ella Purnell) coming to grips with her father Hank’s (Kyle MacLachlan) misdeeds — his direct involvement in torching Shady Sands and dooming her mother to ghoul-dom.

The first season stars Ella Purnell, Aaron Moten, Moisés Arias, Sarita Choudhury, Kyle MacLachlan, Michael Emerson, Leslie Uggams, Frances Turner, Dave Register, Zach Cherry, Johnny Pemberton, Rodrigo Luzzi, Annabel O’Hagan and Walton Goggins.

I adored Season 1 of this wacky, darkly comedic, ultraviolent series, and I can’t wait to see what Season 2 has in store.
