Ah, the Super Bowl. A time to engorge yourself on bottomless nachos and wings. A time to shout loudly at the TV. But it’s also a time to catch brand spankin’ new sneak peeks for highly anticipated upcoming programs! Enter: The Falcon and the Winter Soldier. An official trailer featuring Marvel’s dynamic duo premiered on Sunday during Super Bowl 2021. As Agnes would say in WandaVision, this series is gonna be a gas!
Now, The Falcon and the Winter Soldier trailer opens with Sam (Anthony Mackie) and Bucky (Sebastian Stan) sitting in front of, presumably, a counselor of sorts. She asks Bucky what irritates him regarding Sam. We see the pair are on a plane prepping for a mission. However, before the details of said mission can be solidified, Sam leaps out of the plane. There’s also a voiceover from Daniel Brühl, who portrays antagonist Baron Von Zemo. He plans to “finish” what he started in Captain America: Civil War. Eradicate all superheroes. Next, we get a glimpse of Erin Kellyman‘s character as she puts on a mask. Emily VanCamp‘s Sharon Carter makes an appearance as she runs into Sam and Bucky amid an operation.
The Falcon and the Winter Soldier trailer boasts plenty of action and humor. One of my favorite moments happens after Bucky slides down the side of a semi-truck after battling a baddie. “You got your ass kicked by a little girl,” Sam teases as he flies by Bucky. Additionally, there’s a wonderful bit wherein Sam and Bucky are tossing around that shield. The trailer comes full circle with the aforementioned counselor. Bucky and Sam are engrossed in a staring contest. She urges them to stop and chastises them for acting like children.

I’ve loved Sam and Bucky’s burgeoning friendship from the start, and I’m elated to see it play out in The Falcon and the Winter Soldier. If there’s one thing Marvel excels at it’s finding the humor in heroics.
