We just got our official teaser for the HBO adaptation of Fahrenheit 451 and we’re pumped. Unlike the first teaser that barely showed us anything, this gives us a good look at the world they’ve created. Books will become a thing of the past and the “firemen” are on a mission to burn every single book that there won’t be any left for the next generation to see. It’s a scary future – but not too far removed from our own.

The teaser focuses mostly on Guy Montag (Michael B. Jordan) and his career as a fireman. His superior, Captain Beatty (Michael Shannon), weaves tales of fear and too much knowledge in books, saying there’s “chaos” and “insanity” inside of them. Society has become more repressed while technology thrives but everyone becomes equal by fire. It’s a dystopian world where knowledge should be thriving but it’s not. It’s sad to see, even in a fictional story.

The Ray Bradbury adaptation from HBO seems to be off on the right track. Frankly, I really enjoy the casting of Michael Shannon (the scariest/meanest face in Hollywood) as Captain Beatty. His intimidation factor is through the roof! You do not want to cross that man. I’m excited to see the film and you will be too after you see the teaser.

Fahrenheit 451 is based on Ray Bradbury’s classic novel. In a future where the media is an opiate, history is rewritten and “firemen” burn books, Jordan plays Guy Montag, a young fireman who struggles with his role as law enforcer and with his “mentor”, played by Shannon.

Fahrenheit 451 will be released sometime in May of 2018.
