Welcome to this week’s installment of F2P Friday, where we highlight our favorite Free-2-Play games. The video game market is oversaturated, and sometimes hidden gems can fall through the cracks. This is where we do all the digging for you and feature a new F2P game we know you will enjoy every week. Let’s dive in!

NecroBouncer: Prologue

Become the NecroBouncer and toss out rowdy guests in a roguelike adventure through the nightclub dungeon. Raise the dead, discover hundreds of relics, ban enemies and gobble up their powers.

Grab your magic staff and step into the shoes of a necromancer working as a bouncer at a nightclub. Selflessly crawl the dungeon club and face scores of inebriated monstrosities ready to welcome your back after your holiday break. It’s one hell of a good time!

The Basics

Let’s get down to the basics. NecroBouncer: Prologue is a roguelike dungeon crawler at its core. The gameplay reminds me of Not Tonight, but in a fantasy setting. It also features a similar art style and sense of humor, something I love.

What is the game about? In NecroBouncer: Prologue, you wake up in a dungeon with very little memory and get to work bouncing unruly customers out of a dungeon club. The controls for the game are intuitive and straightforward to pick up. Most importantly, the combat is tight and responsive, which lends to the overall enjoyment. It doesn’t matter how good a game looks if it handles poorly.

The name of the game is survival. The goal of each level is to take down as many enemies as possible and not die before you reach the end of each night. There is also an incredibly satisfying looting mechanic.

Why Should I Play?

Why should you play NecroBouncer: Prologue? I connected with this game immediately. The gameplay is sharp and responsive, the humor is dry yet on point, and the art is simple yet pleasant to look at.

As the title suggests, this is the first installment of the NecroBouncer series, so there is more to look forward to! This is a nice change, as my chief complaint for many of my F2P Friday picks is that there isn’t enough of the game to satisfy me.

The intricate level design, solid soundscaping and ability selection kept NecroBouncer: Prologue engaging even after several hours of gameplay. It is a game I downloaded specifically for the Spooky Season, but it is one I’ll play again and again throughout the year.
