Welcome to this week’s installment of F2P Friday, where we highlight our favorite Free-2-Play games. October is here, so we’re playing our Fear-2-Play series, exploring free spooky games all month long leading up to Halloween. This week we explore the haunted halls of Narrow Woods Hotel.

Narrow Woods Hotel
A chilling feeling seeps into your bones as soon as you pass the front desk. The hallways are unnaturally dark and you swear they grow more narrow with each step you take. The hotel creaks as if its corridors contorted ever so slowly, trying to crush you in its innards before you get the chance to notice. Checking into the Narrow Woods Hotel might be your last bad decision.

The Basics
Let’s get down to the basics of Narrow Woods Hotel. In this “found-footage” horror game, you must navigate the rooms and hallways of the titular Narrow Woods Hotel. You’ll collect keys and other key items to aid your escape. But be careful, as the dreaded feeling of being alone might be a comforting thought.
The first-person view and point-and-click gameplay make solving puzzles intuitive. The low visibility of the levels slows exploration, but the slowed pace adds to the terror. The puzzles are intermediate-level with very little handholding from the game.

Why Should I Play?
So why should you play Narrow Woods Hotel by creator Hyper Freeze Games? This free puzzle exploration game is the perfect play for October. The creepy vintage vibe, eerie music and ambient noise lend to the tense atmosphere. There are some minor jump scares in it but the setting does most of the heavy lifting for the horror theming. A full playthrough will take less than an hour depending on how quickly you make it through the thinning halls.
Ready to check in? You can play Narrow Woods Hotel on Steam for free in time for Halloween!
