Lauren Shippen talks about creating, writing, directing, producing AND acting in the award-winning hit audio fiction podcast, The Bright Sessions.
In episode 47 of Kneel Before Aud, I sit down with Lauren Shippen at Emerald City Comic Con. Shippen is the creative force behind the award-winning, mega-hit podcast The Bright Sessions. The audio fiction podcast with a paranormal flare boasts over a million downloads and has earned a spot on many ‘Top Podcasts of 2016’ lists from outlets such as iTunes, Wired, Indie Wire and Popular Science.
The Bright Sessions is a science fiction podcast that follows a group of therapy patients. But these are not your typical patients – each has a unique supernatural ability. The show documents their struggles and discoveries as well as the motivations of their mysterious therapist, Dr. Bright.
We talk quite a bit about how The Bright Sessions came to life, how the characters have grown and how the story arc has maintained a strong level of excitement and mystery for listeners. What I enjoyed most was the conversation that spawned from talking about The Bright Sessions, a conversation about the creative process and how it’s unique to every artist. It’s an inspiring episode!
