Something magical happened this morning – we got the first official trailer for Frozen 2! Debuting on Good Morning America, we got a better look at what our protagonists will be up to and just what they’re up against. There’s a lot of adventure out there!

The trailer opens with the same scene we saw in the teaser. Elsa is trying to conquer the ocean with her powers but is losing badly. However, when she’s knocked into the depths, she meets a kelpie (a water horse) who seems to approve of her before disappearing. That’s not the only thing, though. There’s an even more dangerous path ahead as the troll king has come to warn Elsa, Anna, and Kristoff of an oncoming threat. Why did Elsa gain her powers? The answer lies north, beyond the enchanted realm and into the unknown. The path that takes them there will put Elsa’s powers to the test. Are they going to be enough to save the day?

The trailer is still pretty vague as to what exactly the threat is. We see glimpses of seemingly very large trolls but it’s unclear what part they have to play. Also, what does the kelpie have to do with it? Honestly the trailer just opened up more questions instead of answering anything! We’re still intrigued though. Check out the official trailer, synopsis and poster below and let us know what you think!

Frozen 2 is directed by Chris Buck and Jennifer Lee with script by Lee and Allison Schroeder. It stars the vocal talents of Idina Menzel as Elsa, Kristen Bell as Anna, Jonathan Groff as Kristoff, Josh Gad as Olaf, as well as Evan Rachel Wood and Sterling K. Brown in undisclosed roles.

Why was Elsa born with magical powers? The answer is calling her and threatening her kingdom. Together with Anna, Kristoff, Olaf and Sven, she’ll set out on a dangerous but remarkable journey. In Frozen, Elsa feared her powers were too much for the world. In Frozen 2, she must hope they are enough.
