2017 may be the Year of the Rooster, but it also appears to be the Year of the Musical. Reported by Deadline today, Edison, a dark musical comedy written by and starring John Roberts (Linda Belcher on Bob’s Burgers), produced by Amy Poehler, and co-writer H. Jon Benjamin (Archer, Bob’s Burgers), is in the works at HBO.

The half-hour musical comedy, Edison, centers loosely around John Robert’s life. According to the article:

It centers on John (Roberts), a 40-year-old real estate broker who dreams of living life in the big city but remains stuck in his small hometown of Edison, NJ.

With the resurgence of musical comedies like Galavant and Crazy Ex-Girlfriend, it looks like studios are slowly jumping back on the musical bandwagon. With the announcement of the The Flash/Supergirl musical crossover episodes from The CW and the upcoming Once Upon a Time musical episode on ABC, we’ll be singing tunes for months to come.

Music is coming, and I, for one, cannot wait.
