The king returns in a brand new trailer for Amazon’s Coming 2 America. This time we are getting a more in-depth look at what to expect in the long-awaited follow-up to 1988’s Coming to America.
In the first trailer, we learned from Jaffe Joffer (James Earl Jones) that Akeem (Eddie Murphy) has a son in Queens, New York. So, of course, Akeem and Semmi (Arsenio Hall) are heading back to America! Akeem finds his son Levelle (Jermaine Fowler), who isn’t too keen on up and moving to Zamunda. That is until Semmi drops a case of cold hard cash showing Levelle exactly what is awaiting him.

The Coming 2 America trailer then goes through clip after hysterical clip of situations introducing Lavelle to his new way of life. It seems like he might be having just a bit of trouble adjusting. But Lavelle isn’t the only one struggling with this new situation. During a brief scene, we learn that one of Akeem’s daughters, Princess Meeka Joffer (Kiki Layne), was set on becoming queen. Though it appears Zamunda is still behind on the times and only allows a male heir to inherit the throne.
There is no doubt that Coming 2 America will have us rolling on the floor with laughter, but it also looks like it will have its serious moments as well. The film stars Eddie Murphy, Arsenio Hall, Jermaine Fowler, Leslie Jones, Shari Headley, KiKi Layne, Teyana Taylor, Garcelle Beauvais, Tracy Morgan, Rick Ross, Wesley Snipes and James Earl Jones. Craig Brewer directs it with a script from Kenya Barris and David Sheffield.
Coming 2 America is available to stream on March 5, 2021, only on Amazon Prime. Check out the trailer and let us know how excited you are!
