Let’s jump right into it shall we?

The biggest announcements, and yet not that surprising, all the new hardware.

Xbox One S (fairly safe assumption “S” stands for slim) which is 40% smaller than the original One, true 4K Ultra HD, up to 2TB of storage and starting at a very decent $299 price point.

How does the size compare?  What exactly does 40% look like?  Here you go:

But wait!  There’s more!  Not content to just reveal a slimmer version of the current console, Microsoft unveiled the new console, codenamed Project Scorpio.

Xbox One, Xbox One S, and Project Scorpio will all “work together”.  All accessories and games will work on all three consoles.  No one gets left behind indeed.

Project Scorpio – Holiday 2017

Now, with your shiny new consoles you need shiny new accessories, right?  If you’re like everyone else and you harbor a desire to personalize your controller then Microsoft has answered your wish.

Play Anywhere is a new feature that allows you to take your game from Xbox One to a Windows 10 PC and back at no additional cost.  It also allows you to play with friends on the opposite platform, meaning your friend can play on PC while you play on a console or vice versa.

Not stopping there, Xbox Live is getting some new features:

Cortana makes the jump to the console.

Background Music – Play music in the background while you game.

Language Region Independence – Allows you to choose your language no matter where you are located.

Clubs – Create communities, or clans, or guilds, or tribes, or whatever you want to call it.  The point is you can create a group independent from any game and instead encompass all the games on Xbox.

Looking for Group – Allows to you leave the game and look for people, no more hunting in game spamming “LFG”, you can form your group outside the game then head inside the digital landscape to slay to your hearts content.

Arena – Competitive play and tournaments.  More or less an e-sports training ground, there is nothing wrong with that.  Surprised it hasn’t happened before.

Coming this fall, powered by Xbox Live, Minecraft gets some new features including dedicated server and cross platform play.
