E3 Roundup: Bethesda Trailers

The big news out of Bethesda is Quake.  The game that defined competitive multiplayer is now 20 years old and of course it needs a new chapter.

Quake Champions boasts a diverse cast of warriors with different abilities and play style, and I do so love seeing a playable female character.  In addition to diverse play styles and abilities, the game is has been specifically designed with e-sports in mind.

Not to be outdone, the game responsible for the rise in popularity of the first person shooter, Doom, had some updates.

id Software’s Marty Stratton reveals all the new free content coming to DOOM, including new SnapMap tools and Hell visual themes, plus new multiplayer modes including fan favorites like Classic Deathmatch, capture the flag, and capture & hold. He also shares news around the game’s first DLC pack, Unto the Evil, which includes three new multiplayer maps, new equipment, a new weapon, and the Harvester–and a new player-controlled demon.

If you haven’t joined in on the fun just yet, we’ve got another special surprise. The DOOM Demo is available starting June 13. Play the first level of the campaign for free, available for Xbox One, PS4, and PC.

Dishonored 2 – November 11, 2016

Sequel to the bestselling game Dishonored.  You do not need to play the first one to jump into the second one, according to Bethesda.  However, the completionist in me is going to go ahead and disagree with that statement.  Your experience may vary.

In Dishonored 2, you can play as either a male or female protagonist.  The play styles and stories are different depending on which one you choose, each assassin has their own unique set of abilities.  Although you don’t have to play both characters to get the story, you will probably experience the complete story if you do play both heroes.

15 years after the vents of Dishonored you play Emily Baldwin, daughter of the first one’s protagonist.

Reprise your role as a supernatural assassin in Dishonored 2 – the next chapter in the award-winning Dishonored saga by Arkane Studios. Play your way in a world where mysticism and industry collide. Will you choose to play as Empress Emily Kaldwin or the Royal Protector, Corvo Attano? Will you stalk your way through the game unseen, make full use of its brutal combat system, or use a blend of both? How will you combine your character’s unique set of powers, weapons and gadgets to eliminate your enemies? The story responds to your choices, leading to intriguing outcomes, as you play through each of the game’s hand-crafted missions.

Dishonored 2 will release on PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC.

Prey – 2017

Arkane Studios, the team behind the critically acclaimed Dishonored series, is bringing their unique vision to Prey, a first-person sci-fi action game that reimagines the franchise from the ground up… with an added psychological twist.

You are Morgan Yu, the subject of morally dubious experiments designed to improve the human race. You awaken aboard the Talos 1 in the year 2032 and must uncover the secrets hiding in the depths of the space station while being hunted by the mysterious alien force that has taken over. You’ll have to rely on the tools you find on the station – along with your wits, weapons and mind-bending abilities – to combat the growing threat and, hopefully, survive. Get your first look at Prey in the cinematic reveal trailer.

Prey will be available on PS4, Xbox One and PC.

The Elder Scrolls: Legends

Coming for PC, Mac, iOS, and Android.

The Elder Scrolls Online: Dark Brotherhood

Join the merciless Dark Brotherhood of the Gold Coast, prowling in the shadows cast by the two great powers of the region. Though at the height of their power, the Dark Brotherhood faces a grave threat in the form of a mysterious black-armored warrior capable of bringing down their best agents. Venture forth for another exciting chapter of the Elder Scrolls Online as you carve a bloody swath across Tamriel in the name of the Dark Brotherhood!

Fallout 4, Fallout Shelter, and Skyrim Remastered

Of course we don’t want to leave out additions to already existing games.  Fallout 4 and Fallout Shelter both are getting new content and Skyrim is being remastered for the current gen consoles.  Not going to lie, I am happy with the remaster trend, I know it’s a money grab and they are grabbing all my money.  Especially for the games I somehow missed the first time around.

Fallout 4 and Doom are coming to HTC Vive in 2017.
