E3 2020 has joined the list of other major conventions that have canceled or rescheduled their events due to the Coronavirus outbreak. ESA (Entertainment Software Association)  took to their official Twitter this morning to share the news with fans. They spoke with members of not only their own organization but also ones working alongside them and decided for the safety of everyone it was best to cancel.

The event was to take place from June 9th to the 11th in Los Angelos, California. Other events have opted to just reschedule for later on in the year, but E3 doesn’t seem to be doing so. In a statement made by ESA, they promised full refunds to both attendees and exhibitors and said they were looking forward to E3 2021.

E3 is one of the largest video game conventions, holding showcases for several game developers to show off their upcoming work. We hope that these developers are given another type of platform to showcase their work, similar to Nintendo Direct. Either way, we are going to be waiting another year for E3.

E3’s cancelation follows behind Games Developers Conference, South By Southwest and Emerald City Comic-Con. Time will only tell how many more conferences will be canceling or postponing due to the Coronavirus. Make sure to follow up on twitter and check back here for more news.
