E3 2019: Our Most Anticipated Titles, Conferences and Predictions

Updated on:

It’s the most magical time of the year! Ladies and Gentlemen, we are finally here! On the cusp of E3 2019! After this weekend, we’ll know all of the latest titles coming out later this year and what we can look forward to playing in the future! All of us at Geek Girl Authority are overjoyed to be covering the biggest week for the gaming world! And as we patiently wait for the press conferences to start, contributors Emily Rose Jacobson, Julia Roth and Renee Lopez have decided to share their personal thoughts, predictions, and excitement for E3!

What Games or Conferences are you MOST Looking Forward To?

RENEE:

There are so many leaks and rumors happening right now that it’s been a bit overwhelming to sift through; however, I’m really looking forward to seeing some Borderlands 3 gameplay. I’ve loved this series since the beginning and I hope that this title will fulfill all my looter-shooter dreams. Judging by the trailer, it just might do that. I’m also very interested to see what Square Enix has in store for us. With the recent teaser for Final Fantasy VII, we need to see more of this game.  Darksiders: Genesis, which was just announced, is another game that I’m really looking forward to seeing. I loved the first Darksiders and have been making my way through the other two games in the series. What peaked my interest in the game is the top-down, Diablo-esque approach along with the introduction of the new character, Strife. There are just too many games to see this year like Cyberpunk 2077, Wolfenstein: Youngblood, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order and the Marvel’s Avengers game.

JULIA:

My excitement is all over the place this year. First and foremost we are finally getting more information (and dare I say a possible release date) on Final Fantasy VII. I was almost afraid we were going to be disappointed again until the trailer dropped at the beginning of May. We were given a look at the updated graphics and gameplay, but it just isn’t enough. I cannot wait to see what else they have been working on behind the scenes for this remake. Another thing that’s high on my list is the Bethesda press conference. We got a quick peek at the upcoming Wolfenstein: Youngblood last year, but I need more. Now I am not normally a fan of first-person shooters, but the Wolfenstein series has won me over again and again. Let us not forget the main protagonists are the two daughters of BJ Blazkowicz as they continue the family job: killing Nazis.

EMILY:

Right now, the title that I desperately want to know about is Square Enix’s The Avengers game. We hardly know anything about this game, and only have had speculation to rely on on…until this weekend. I’m most curious about this title’s gameplay! Will I get to create a hero and fight alongside The Avengers? Or, will I be playing as my favorite heroes? The sooner we know more, the sooner I can get even more hyped! Likewise, I’m especially curious to see the Microsoft Press Conference. With Sony completely skipping E3 this year, I believe this would a great time to see Microsoft really knock their presentation out of the park! I’m especially excited to catch more footage and details about Cyberpunk 2077. With this being such a monumental game at E3, I would not be surprised if we finally get a release date for this title. Moreover, I also wouldn’t be surprised if the next generational Xbox console was announced and showcased. Finally, I’m anxiously looking forward to seeing details about Nintendo‘s Animal Crossing for the Nintendo Switchspecifically the gameplay and release date. Now enough talking! Let’s get this party started!

What are some unconfirmed games or speculations that you hope are confirmed?

RENEE:

There have been a lot of talk about the next gen consoles coming from Sony and Microsoft. While Sony won’t have a presence at E3, I think this is a perfect opportunity for Microsoft to release details about their next gen Xbox console. I would also like to see some confirmation about the new Elder Scrolls game. It’s been almost 8 years since The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim released, so Bethesda, if you’re reading this, we need to see some Elder Scrolls VI action at E3. And finally, I know the game has been confirmed, but I really need to know when Dragon Age 4 is coming out. BioWare teased us with the #DreadWolfRises at The Game Awards last year, but we’re now going into month 6 and there hasn’t been a peep about it. Let’s see some broody Solas!

JULIA:

As far as speculated titles go, I am most interested in hearing about the rebirth of the Fable series. We have spent years in the “maybe” zone and I am ready for Microsoft to just outright say “yes.” With the new system set to release, this would be the perfect opportunity to bring this franchise back. I am also interested in learning if there is any substance to the rumors surrounding our favorite character killer George R.R. Martin and his involvement in an upcoming game with From Software. We have rumors of large scale exploration and some always fun king-killing. Hopefully, we will get a look at this unnamed title during Microsoft’s press conference!

EMILY:

I think we’re due for a new The Sims game! I’ve been a long time fan of The Sims ever since I was a little kid. Additionally, it’s been a good amount of time since the release of The Sims 4, so I think there is a strong possibility we’ll see a The Sims 5 announcement during EA’s Livestream. I also speculate that we’ll see more about The Elder Scrolls VI. Bethesda debuted a lot of information about the development of the game during their Elder Scrolls 25th Anniversary event earlier this year. Especially after what has happened with Fallout 76, I can see definitely see Bethesda wanting to pull out all of the stops. Get fans hyped again. And I think they can do this by giving us a tentative release year, subtitle (i.e Skyrim, Morrowind, etc), and maybe even a cinematic trailer.

What is one OUTRAGEOUS and unprecedented announcement you’d like to hear at E3 2019?

RENEE:

If I could get any information about any Dragon Quest remaster from Square Enix, that would absolutely make my day. We’re getting Dragon Quest Builders 2 next month, and with the success of Dragon Quest XI, I hope that Square Enix is starting to understand the value of the Dragon Quest franchise in the West. Dragon Quest Heroes and Dragon Quest Builders are phenomenal titles, but I think the time has come to see some of the older Dragon Quest games to be remastered. But here is my completely outrageous and unprecedented announcement: Final Fantasy Tactics 2. I know this game was once in the works and I think it would be incredible to see this revisited. Maybe one of these years.

JULIA:

I’ve got three words for you: Assassin’s Creed Vikings. I am really hopeful that during the Ubisoft conference we get a look at the latest Assassin’s Creed game and that it includes Vikings. It was teased as an Easter egg in Tom Clancy’s The Division 2 and after putting on your favorite tin foil hat it is easy to see that this just has to be right. However, any new game won’t be released until 2020.

EMILY:

So here’s a fun little story. Back during E3 2016, I was waiting in line for the Fallout 4 VR demo alongside a 2K developer. We started to chat in line, and I asked him about 2K’s ownership of the Bioshock property and if we could expect a game sometime soon. He just smiled and laughed, and gave a gentle nod. Since that day I’ve been eagerly awaiting any Bioshock news. And with the in-development project that was leaked earlier this year, I am hoping that we get a nice little tease about the Bioshock game to come. I’m not asking for much, just confirm it for me 2K. Please.
