E3 2019 has officially kicked off with the EA Play 2019 Live Stream! While it wasn’t your typical press conference, this live stream was jam-packed with gameplay trailers, upcoming releases, and more! In case you missed the live stream, here are all of the big announcements coming from EA this year.

Star Wars: Jedi Fallen Order

We received our first look at the gameplay for Respawn and EA’s upcoming title, Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order. In this 15-minute gameplay video, we got a good understanding of all of the abilities Cal and his droid friend, BD-1, are capable of. Players will have a number of force moves available including push, pull, slow, and more. Moves can be unlocked and enhanced through Skill Points that you’ll accumulate from fighting enemies. Speaking of fighting enemies, players must thoughtfully utilize their force abilities and lightsaber in combat in order to survive. Additionally, your companion, BD-1, can scan the world around you, access locked doors, provide stimpacks, and more.

Vince Zampella and Stig Asmussen stated that not only is the game canon in the Star Wars universe, but it will be a Jedi-focused story. There will not be the choice to align yourself towards the Light or the Dark. This will be the story of Cal, the Empire, and the Fallen Jedi from a Galaxy Far Far Away.

Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order will be released on November 15th, 2019 for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.

Apex Legends

During the Live Stream, Apex Legends revealed their 10th Legend: Wattson. Wattson has the ability to set up electric fences that will allow you to use the Arena to your advantage. Her ultimate is an interceptive pylon, that will deflect enemy attacks and will charge up your teammates’ shields. Depending on your play style, Wattson can be utilized offensively, defensively, or support.

Along with this character reveal, we got a look into what fans can expect from Season 2. Season 2, i.e, “Battle Charge” starts July 2nd, and will introduce Wattson, the L-Star weapon, a new gameplay mode, a potential map event, and more! Likewise, the Season 2 Battle Pass will be Challenge-based, includes 4 new Legendary skins, and will add a Ranked mode for players.

Apex Legends is available now for the  Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC.

Battlefield V

We got a look at a number of new Battlefield V maps, modes, and more. The first map introduced is Marita, coming to the game this July. Located in Greece, you’ll find yourself descending the mountain and navigating the tiny streets of this once quiet town. The map is Infantry focused, so players will be colliding with foes in tight combat.  The next map introduced was Al Sundan, seated on the North African Coast. This is an incredibly big map, perfect for all varieties of Battlefield V combat. Players will be able to jump into this battleground on June 27th.

Later in the year, Battlefield V fans can look forward to playing is Operation Underground, inspired by Operation Metro from Battlefield 3. This map will be available in October, between Chapter 4 and Chapter 5. Lastly, we got a look into the next installment, Chapter 5: Pacific Theatre. Prepare to take your battles to the Pacific, and fight in a re-imagining of one of the most infamous WWII battles: Iwo Jima. Chapter 5 will contain three initial maps, iconic weapons, new vehicles, gameplay, and more.

Battlefield V is available for the Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC.

FIFA 20

The biggest announcement for FIFA 20 is the introduction of Volta Football, a unique new career mode. In this mode, you can play as a male OR female character, and take your street football game across the world. You’ll be able to play 3v3, 4v4, 5v5 against the game, or against other players online. Build your career, customize your player, and of course, play football.

Likewise, FIFA 20 will include a new gameplay feature set titled, “Football Intelligence”. These features will improve one-on-one moments, the game flow of matches, and ball physics. With these additions, the team behind FIFA 2o hopes to make the game personally feel more like a real spontaneous sports match.

FIFA 20 will be released on September 27, 2019 for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.

Madden NFL 20

Madden NFL 20 is coming in hot and loaded with a number of exciting modes and features. For instance, as the game installs, players will be able to immediately jump into the Pro Bowl, and test the new gameplay features. One such feature is the X-Factor Abilities. Each player’s X-Factor abilities are inspired by their real-life skills, so no two players will have the same set. Additionally, new plays have been added to the Playbook and a number of Ultimate Missions have been added to this title as well.

And if you’re looking for something new, Face of the Franchise is a unique mode that will allow YOU to experience the NFL Draft first-hand. Players will create a college football quarterback, and journey through drafts, bowls, and into a professional NFL career. There will be a closed Beta for Madden NFL 20 June 14-16 that will feature all the new gameplay elements except Face the Franchise and Madden Ultimate Team.

Madden NFL 20  will be released on August 2, 2019 for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.

The Sims 4

EA revealed the latest The Sims 4 pack is The Sims 4: Island Living. In this expansion, prepare to travel to the Island of Sulani and explore what all life has to offer. Get ready to snorkel, swim, ride the Aqua Zips, and for the first time, walk right INTO the open water. The Island of Sulani is packed full of activities, animals, environments, and new friends for your Sims to meet. The pack will also come with Mermaid Sims and a number of new clothing, hair, and decor items to create the perfect island getaway.

Additionally, EA is partnering with the It Gets Better Project and a number of Pride and Inclusivity items will be available in the game over the next few months. EA is also continuing their relationship with Moschino, and introducing The Sims 4: Moschino Stuff pack this Summer as well. And finally, it was announced that fans can expect the next game pack, The Sims 4: Realm of Magic, to debut Fall 2019.

The Sims 4: Island Living will be released on June 21, 2019 for Mac and Windows, and on July 16, 2019 for the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.

Overall Impression

While there were not as many future titles teased as many hoped, the EA Play 2019 Live Stream was packed with a ton of exciting gameplay and information. Star Wars: Jedi Fallen Order was definitely the highlight of the live stream, and I believe it has a solid chance for Game of the Year. I’m personally sad that we did not get any more information about Bioware and the next Dragon Age title, but I’m hopeful we might hear some information later this week. Overall, EA truly utilized E3 to compactly highlight the gaming spectrum of their company. What EA titles are YOU looking forward to playing? Let us know in the comments below!
