The E3 2018 Xbox Press Conference really took the video game world by storm today. They announced 50 games during the conference including 18 titles with exclusivity and 15 world premieres. They also announced the Xbox Game Pass, which will give players unlimited access to over 100 game titles for a small monthly subscription. These games will rotate giving gamers the chance to test out games they might have passed over due to cost. To take a look at all the upcoming games, just check out the trailers below!
Ori and the Will of the Wisps
A new sequel to Ori and the Blind Forest, Moon Studios is bringing players back into this amazing world once again. Ori and the Will of the Wasps follows the same side scrolling action as the first one. Not much as been announced regarding the storyline; however, this game is visually stunning. It is sent to release in 2019 for the Xbox One and PC and will be an Xbox exclusive.
Battlefield V
The new Battlefield V is introducing a Battle Royale mode designed specifically for Battlefield players. The preview also features new game mechanics such as the ability to dive or smash through windows, adding more to the game immersion. What sticks out most of all to me? The inclusion of a female heroine! DICE got quite a bit of backlash but they were happy to announce the inclusion of a female character is here to stay! Battlefield V will be available October 19, 2018 on Xbox One, PS4, and PC.
Crackdown 3
Yes, my friends, that is Terry Crews. While Crackdown 3 has been pushed back twice, it seems that we finally have a finished project. The action adventure lets you take control of a superhero and attempt to beat back the terrorist group Terra Nova. This trailer doesn’t show much of the campaign; however, it does feature a lot of Terry Crews destroying things. Honestly what more do you need? Crackdown 3 will be available February of 2018 and will be exclusive to Xbox One and PC.

Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice
FromSoftware, the developers of Bloodborne and Dark Souls, comes a gritty Asian-inspired action/adventure game. Players will take control of a warrior working to save a young lord and exact revenge against those who have wronged him. Software and Activision teased a very brief trailer during last year’s Game Awards and I am happy to see it has come a long way. FromSoftware promises a whole new world experience with difficulty of their other beloved titles. Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice will be available sometime in 2019 on the XBox One, PS4, and PC.
Fallout 76
We were treated to a special teaser trailer just a few days ago, but more news regarding Fallout 76 was released today as well. Set in the rolling hills of West Virginia (totally have had the Country Road song stuck in my head all day!) it is going to be four times larger than Fallout 4. From the looks of the trailer, players will be rebuilding West Virginia and maybe even the world after the bomb drops. No official release date has been set, but we can still learn more during Bethesda‘s press conference later tonight!
UPDATE: Fallout 76 will be released on November 14, 2018.
Halo Infinite
Following close with the events after Halo 5, Halo Infinite will closely follow Master Chief in what seems to be an open world game. The trailer itself is visually stunning but does not explain much in regards to game play and storylines. I hope we are able to see more over the next few months that give us a better idea of what is really going on! Halo: Infinite has yet to be given a release date but will be exclusive to Xbox One and PC.
Kingdom Hearts III
Kingdom Hearts 3 looks amazing! The game is set to be the final installment in the Dark Seeker saga. It follows directly after the events of Kingdom Hearts: Dream Drop Distance and follows Sora as he brings an end to Master Xehanort’s plans to start a second Keyblade War. The KH3 trailer showcases the worlds from Frozen, Tangled, Monster’s Inc. and many more. Kingdom Hearts 3 is set to release worldwide on January 29, 2019 for Xbox One and PS4.
Forza Horizon 4
When it comes to racing games, it can seem hard to release new expansions almost every year. However Forza Horizon 4 has really raised the bar. Featuring a shared open world where players can interact with one another through in-game chat. Players are transported to beautiful historic Britain as they race through cities and countrysides. What sets this one apart from the rest is the changing seasons. Players will get to experience the four different seasons while playing and each will have an effect on the game itself. Forza Horizon 4 is set to release on October 4, 2018 exclusively for Xbox One and PC.
We Happy Few
We Happy Few is a survival game with a pretty happy twist. Set in an alternative timeline, the British town of Wellington Wells has a few secrets they are trying to hide. Unable to cope with the world war going on around them, citizens begin taking “Joy” a hallucinogenic drug that causes them to always be happy. Players will take control of one of three different playable characters all of whom stopped use of Joy and are trying to survive long enough to accomplish a goal and attempt to escape. We Happy Few will be available August 10, 2018 on Xbox One, PS4 and PC.
PUBG
PC players have already been experiencing the amazing war mode that PUBG has to offer and it does not look like Xbox players will have to wait much longer. War Mode is a great alternative to those players who are not fans of playing the long game and drops them in ready to fight. Xbox One players can expect to see War Mode for PUBG available to them in Winter 2018.
Tales of Vesperia: Definitive Edition
Tales of Vesperia Definitive Edition sees a wonderful remastering to the RPG (role play game) that was released in 2008. It will include additional content as well as new characters. The updated visuals look truly stunning and I cannot wait to see what they have added to the already powerful storyline. Tales of Vesperia Definitive Edition will be available this Winter for Xbox One, PS4, Nintendo Switch and PC.
Sea of Thieves (Cursed Sails and Forsaken Shores DLC)
Sea of Thieves returns with two new DLC (downloadable content) packs, Cursed Sails and Forsaken Shores. The new updates really bring a new dark look to the game and I honestly love it. Instead of focusing greatly on new perks this time around, maps were given the priority and they really did a fantastic job. Cursed Sails is set to release next month while Forsaken Shores is set to release in September. Sea of Thieves is exclusive to Xbox One and PC.
Tom Clancy: The Division 2
Set seven months after the events of Tom Clancy’s The Division, players are relocated to the streets of Washington DC for The Division 2. The virus has erupted from NYC and our country has fallen. Players will take control of Division agents who are tasked with battling against enemy factions and taking back the city. We will hopefully get more details during Ubisoft‘s own press conference on June 11th at 1pm PST. They did announce that Tom Clancy’s The Division 2 is set to release March 15, 2019 for Xbox One, PS4, and PC.
Shadow of the Tomb Raider
Shadow of the Tomb Raider takes place during an archaeological dig in Latin America. Our favorite female heroine, Lara Croft, is on the hunt for a Mayan relic that has a connection to her late father. Of course there is a rival group looking to stop her and of course Lara sets off a chain of events that will ultimately lead to a Mayan Apocalypse. It is our job to help her stop it and save the world. Shadows of the Tomb Raider is set to be released September 14, 2018 for Xbox One, PS4, and PC.
Session
The Montreal-based indie game studio Crea-ture Studios brings a whole new type of skateboarding game to the world. Session is a skateboarding simulation game that pays homage to early skate games that used the dual-analog control where one stick controls one foot and vice versa. While not in Skate Mode players can film other players and record their tricks with a 90’s-esque camera. Session will be available in 2019 for Xbox One and PC.
Black Desert
Korean developer Pearl Abyss brought Black Desert Online to PC gamers back in 2016. The MMORPG (massive multiplayer online role playing game) is set in a land ruled by magic and monsters. Players are able play as different characters across several different environments. Black Desert Online already has a large PC fan base but now Xbox One players will be able to get in on the action this Winter once the Beta opens up!
Devil May Cry 5
Capcom has finally announced the long awaited sequel in their Devil May Cry series. DMC 5 is returning us to our roots and bringing back Nero and Dante. It also sees the return of game designer Hideaki Itsuno to the realm which only means it will be truly amazing. The trailer features an intense ride and demon hunting at its finest. DMC 5 will be released in Spring 2019 for Xbox One, PS4 and PC.
Cuphead: The Delicious Last Course
Cuphead: The Delicious Last Course is the next expansion in the wildly popular Cuphead series. The new expansion will feature a new playable character, Ms. Chalice, as well as a new isle, weapons, and bosses. Cuphead went on to win best Xbox One Game and several other rewards in 2017. The next expansion is set to release sometime in 2019 exclusively for Xbox One through the Microsoft Store.
TUNIC
TUNIC is about an adorable little fox in a world that brings memories of The Legend of Zelda to mind. Traverse through the world unlocking mysteries and fighting monsters along the way. TUNIC was originally introduced by game studio Finji as Secret Legend, but went under a bit of a name change. While it still does not have a release date, TUNIC will be exclusive to Xbox One and Steam.
Jump Force
Bandai Namco has really blown us out of the water with Jump Force. The all out brawler game features some of our favorite Anime characters including Goku from Dragon Ball Z, Naruto from Naruto, Luffy from One Piece, and several more. Don’t miss the little teaser at the end with a certain shinigami from Death Note quietly overseeing the battle down below. The trailer does not feature much gameplay however one can assume the character moves will mirror those in their respected shows. Jump Force is set to release in 2019 for Xbox One and PS4.
Dying Light 2
The zombie parkour survival game Dying Light is getting a sequel! Dying Light 2 brings us back into a zombie-infested world in which we must complete missions in order to continue on. They are taking it a step further by introducing a mechanic that makes every in-game choice you make meaningful. Choosing to side with certain groups will vastly alter future gameplay. Dying Light 2 has yet to receive a release date but will be available for Xbox One, PS4, and PC.
Battletoads
Battletoads is coming back and all we know is that it features some three-player couch co-op and hand-drawn graphics. Rare developed Battletoads back in 1991 and never went any further. When Microsoft acquired Rare back in 2003 there was some speculation it might return. Well, in 2019 we are getting a new Battletoads game for Xbox One.
Just Cause 4
Already previously leaked thanks to a Steam ad, we got a pretty sweet look at the new Just Cause 4. It features an open-world full of action, exploding helicopters, and much more. The new installment in the Just Cause series will also feature a weather mechanic and the scariest tornado since Twister. Just Cause 4 is set to release on December 4, 2018 on Xbox One, PS4 and PC.
Gears POP
Gears of War is expanding to mobile via Gears POP. The collaboration with Funko Pop brings all the characters to life in a short big head kind of way. We will have to wait quite a bit to get into the action, Gears POP will be available for Apple and Android users in 2019.
Gears 5
While details are light as of right now, we know Gears 5 will follow Kait Diaz in what looks like a pretty intense storyline. It also looks as Gears 5 will feature a split screen version and online multiplayer mode. We are expected to get more information soon, but right now it looks amazing. It honestly looks to be the most visually stunning Gears of War yet. Gears 5 is set to release next year for Xbox One and PC.
Cyberpunk 2077
CD Projekt Red snuck in a quick trailer right at the end of the Xbox press conference. It has been quite some time since we’ve seen the teaser, but Cyberpunk 2077 looks miles apart from where it started. A little gameplay was shown throughout the trailer but overall it looks stunning. What we do know is that it is a narrative-driven RPG in which you play as “V,” a hired gun making a name for himself. A release date for Cyberpunk 2077 is set for June 2019 for Xbox One, PS4 and PC.
The Awesome Adventures of Captain Spirit
Set in the world of Life Is Strange, The Awesome Adventures of Captain Spirit is a stand-alone game with an awesome twist. The story follows 10-year-old Chris on his search for epic adventure. Dontnod has been quietly working on this since the release of Life is Strange and is finally ready for the world to enjoy their game! The Awesome Adventures of Captain Spirit is set to release on June 26, 2018 for Xbox One, PS4, and PC.
Metro Exodus
Metro Exodus takes players through a post-apocalyptic Russia in the latest Metro FPS (first person shooter). Many have noted that the strong narration aspects will hopefully lead to a focus on storytelling throughout the game. This will strengthen the bridge between all the Metro games through Artyom’s journey. Metro Exodus will be released February 22, 2019 for Xbox One, PS4 and PC.
What games are you most excited for in the upcoming months? I am going to binge a ton of games over the next couple months in order to be ready for all the new expansions!
