Welcome to Tavern Talk Thursday! We are expanding! What started as a column dedicated to chatting with members of the TTRPG community is growing to talk about all things TTRPG. We aim to continue sharing all the things we love about the community and all the content within. So, consider this a little peek into our favorite worlds and creators as we explore everything we love.

If you had Dead by Daylight partnering with Dungeons and Dragons for the next chapter on your 2024 Bingo Card, you are a step closer to winning than us. All jokes aside, as fans of both games, we are beyond excited for this new chapter. Behaviour announced last week that their next killer to appear in the Fog is none other than the Whispered One himself, Vecna. And while he does make a grand appearance in the most recent season of Stranger Things, this chapter is directly tied to the TTRPG lore and abilities.

And while we are excited to see the crossover event of the year, we can’t help but think of all the other incredible characters and monsters that could find themselves in the Fog as well. Who would be at the top of your list? Let us know in the comments below and on social media. And if you haven’t had a chance to check out Dead by Daylight, we highly suggest doing so. It is available to play on PC through Steam, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S and the Nintendo Switch.

Who Should Join Vecna in Dead by Daylight?

Beholders

Specifically, we want to see Xanathar make his way into the Fog. The mob boss would clearly bring his favorite goldfish for the fun. Could you imagine flipping your camera around mid-gen to find a giant floating eye with tentacles creeping up on you? And what would his power be? We would love to see a spin on their legendary action that allows them to use different eye rays.

Mind Flayer

Keeping up with the comic horrors within Dungeons and Dragons, our next pick would be a Mind Flayer. The terrifying aberrant humanoid would fit right in with the other killers in Dead by Daylight. Their power could tie into their psychic abilities like Mind Blast. Plus, wouldn’t it be cool to see a mori inspired by Extract Brain?

Strahd von Zarovich

Since the dawn of the Fog, we have put out into the universe that we would eventually come face to face with a vampire killer. And who better to take up the mantle than The First Vampire himself, Strahd von Zarovich? Not only would he be incredible to convert to Dead by Daylight, but imagine the maps featuring the setting of Barovia and how dark and desolate it would be. It would be perfect in our eyes.

Darkling Elders

Introducing Chucky into the Fog has opened the door for tiny killers. And who would make a better addition than a Darkling Elder? The fey monster could terrify the survivors as it darts from generator to generator. And while killers don’t die, we are sure they could come up with a way to incorporate Death Burn and give those flashlight wielders a taste of their own medicine.

Gelatinous Cube

Of course, we can’t imagine Vecna venturing into the Fog without the terrifying Gelatinous Cube by his side. What would be more frightening than watching another oozing creature creep after you? Remember when Dredge ate Maurice? Imagine him being stuck within the Cube! We know he isn’t the worst Dungeons and Dragons villain out there, but he sure would be perfect in our hearts.
