It looks like the upcoming Dungeons and Dragons film is tapping another Netflix star with the addition of Daisy Head to the cast. We recently saw her in the highly popular series Shadow and Bone, where she played royal Tailor and Alina’s (Jessie Mei Li) confidante Genya Safin. Paramount and eOne’s still-untitled film adapts the Dungeons and Dragons world created by Wizards of the Coast.
Head will be joining a large ensemble cast with some pretty big names, including Chris Pine, Michelle Rodriquez, Justice Smith, Regé–Jean Page, Hugh Grant and Sophia Lillis. Jonathan Goldstein and John Francis Daley co-wrote and will co-direct the film. Jeremy Latcham and Brian Goldner will be producing.
Goldstein recently tweeted that production of the film is currently underway as of May 1st. Head proved her fantasy skills in Shadow and Bone and it will be exciting to see her take on another role within the genre. Of course, they are keeping everyone’s roles pretty quiet, so we aren’t sure where she fits into the storyline. I have a sneaking suspicion that everyone they have announced so far will be a part of the same traveling party. It makes sense to introduce their heroes and maybe a villain before any side characters.
With Dungeons and Dragons now in production, I’m sure we are going to hear more casting news and eventually, a synopsis. How excited are you to see Daisy join the film? Let us know in the comments below and on social media!
