Maybe it was the Stranger Things marathon or finding out that Joe Manganiello is absolutely obsessed with playing, but now you have a strong urge to pick up an ax and dive straight into Dungeons and Dragons. Don’t worry, you’re not the only one! I myself had a moment where I felt the urge to play, but had no idea where to start or what to do! Did you know that Wizards of the Coast have made it really simple to start playing? They have this amazing thing called Adventurers League!

What is Adventurers League you ask? It is an official ongoing Dungeons and Dragons campaign using 5e rules and set in the Forgotten Realms. What is great is that these games can be played at any game store that hosts an Adventurers League. It is super easy to get started: just show up, create a character, and get adventuring! Another bonus is you can take your character to other places that host Adventurers League and play along with them! The campaigns are broken down into smaller modules that can be played in order or you can pick and choose which ones are your favorite!

There is so much more than just exploring dungeons, these adventures are filled with tons of role playing and insanely cool puzzles to solve. You don’t just have to play a character in Adventurers League, you can learn how to be a Dungeon Master as well! They give you the opportunity to really step out of your comfort zone and take players on an epic adventure. Gameplay isn’t just limited to game stores though, you can also find Adventurers League at conventions like PAX Unplugged or online as well!

When the group I was playing with at home fell apart, because life, I was really upset. I love to play and I keep trying to find ways to! I was so excited when I learned of a game store near my house that was playing and instantly fell in love. And each week I end up at a table with at least one or two different people! This is a great way to really learn from and work alongside other people, too. You can check out the Dungeons and Dragons organized play page to find a store near you!
