There's a DUNE Takeover Happening at Funko Hollywood

Denis Villeneuve’s adaptation of Frank Herbert’s Dune comes out on October 22nd and to say there’s major buzz about this film is an understatement. Book fans are excited to see a new adaptation of the epic science fiction series, David Lynch Dune film fans are excited to see Villeneuve’s interpretation and Timothee Chalamet fans are excited for, well, Timothee Chalamet.

Funko’s Hollywood store is contributing to the hype of the film with their Dune takeover which runs from October 1st to the 15th. Fans can take a photo in a massive Dune-wrapped Pop! box, see the new Dune Funko Pop! figures and check out props used in the upcoming film.

I got a chance to get a sneak peek at the Funko Dune Takeover. The Pop! figures are fantastic (Lady Jessica ftw!) and the film props made this Dune nerd squeal. Take a look at my adventure below.

This is the human-sized Dune-wrapped Pop! box that Funko has onsite for fun photo ops. I did some down-low repping of Dune with my spice-colored pants and my Arrakis t-shirt. Also, I look slightly insane although I like to think I was wearing a Fremen stillsuit face mask.

The props were a thrill to see. In the first display case were a collection of Atreides swords. Most exciting, however, were the crysknives. Dune fans will know that a crysknife’s is a Fremen weapon made from the tooth of a dead sandworm.

The next display case contained a Fremkit and sand compactor used on the planet Arrakis, also known as Dune. But, most exciting to see were the Pain Box and Gom Jabbar. The latter two are deadly elements that heavily impact Paul Atreide’s journey.

Here are the characters that we know will be released. If you’re able to pick these up and want to feature them as a centerpiece for your collection, they’d make quite the impression in your Dune themed Funko Pop display case.

I hope we will see these characters down the line as a Funko Pop!: The Beast Rabban (Dave Bautista), Stilgar (Javier Bardem), Liet Kynes (Sharon Duncan-Brewster), Gurney Hallack (Josh Brolin) and the Reverend Mother Gaius Helen Mohiam (Charlotte Rampling). Also, a Sandworm Pop! would be stellar!

The Dune Takeover at Funko Hollywood runs from October 1st to the 15th. The store is open Wednesday–Friday from 12-6 PM and 10 AM-6 PM Saturday and Sunday. For more info, you can check out their main website here. Covid protocols are being followed at the store. All customers and staff are required to wear masks covering their nose, mouth and chin at all times inside the store, including during in-store photo opportunities, regardless of vaccination status. The store will also be operating at reduced capacity.

Dune opens in theaters and on HBO Max on October 22nd.
