In the most “duh” news of the day, Legendary and Warner Bros have greenlit the sequel for Dune. I don’t want to say that I can see the future, but this was pretty sure to come true. Part two of this epic space opera will see Denis Villeneuve returning as director, producer and co-screenwriter. Legendary took to Twitter to share the news and how excited they are to continue this journey.

And they aren’t the only ones. Villeneuve shared, “I just received news from Legendary that we are officially moving forward with Dune: Part Two. It was a dream of mine to adapt Frank Herbert‘s DUNE and I have the fans, the cast and crew, Legendary and Warner Bros. to thank for supporting this dream. This is only the beginning.” And we 100% agree. Part one brought in $41 million within the first weekend and that doesn’t even include those who tuned in on HBO Max.

We won’t spoil any of the details of Dune just now. We highly suggest taking the time to experience this glorious film yourself in theaters or on HBO Max. It goes without saying that we will be spending the next two years patiently waiting for part two. The Dune sequel is set to hit theaters in October 2023. We’ve linked the announcement below!
