Dune: Part Two
As its release date inches closer, Warner Bros. Pictures has released an extended sneak preview for Dune: Part Two. Over seven minutes of film clips and behind-the-scenes interviews with the cast reveal key details for the franchise’s second film. The movie is set to bring director Denis Villeneuve’s vision to life, recreating the world-renowned book series on the big screen.
A few trailers have been released for the 166-minute sequel, jam-packed with intense visuals and an incredible, epic story. In contrast to these, the sneak peek shows six minutes of one whole moment in the film. The main character in the franchise undergoes his “final test” — invoking a sandworm on the planet Arrakis — and succeeding when facing it head-on. Here’s what we know about Dune: Part Two.

Cast and Crew
Villeneuve is leading the direction of the Dune sequel after his leadership on the first film (which landed him a pretty huge compliment from Oppenheimer director Christopher Nolan). Timothée Chalamet is once again joining him as lead man Paul Atreides, the Muad’Dib of Arrakis. Beside him, Zendaya returns to play Chani, a Fremen and Paul’s romantic interest.
The synopsis of the film, per Warner Bros. MediaPass, gives a glimpse into what their relationship will be like in the movie:
“Dune: Part Two will explore the mythic journey of Paul Atreides as he unites with Chani and the Fremen while on a path of revenge against the conspirators who destroyed his family. Facing a choice between the love of his life and the fate of the known universe, he endeavors to prevent a terrible future only he can foresee.”

However, two new familiar faces from Hollywood are joining the star-studded cast for Dune: Part Two. The sneak peek shows Austin Butler sharing his excitement to play in Dune: Part Two as the cruel Feyd-Rautha. A momentous duel between Feyd-Rautha and Paul will be in the movie, promising an intense scene for fans.
“You don’t get to play characters like this every day,” Butler, known for his role in Elvis, said.
Alongside Butler, Florence Pugh joins the cast for the sequel. She plays Princess Irulan, the Emperor’s daughter and a member of the Bene Gesserit sisterhood.
“It’s bigger and better than I ever imagined,” Pugh says in the sneak peek.
Seeing the Sandworm in Action
Less than a month away, Dune: Part Two seems ready to surpass the first movie’s success. The focus of the sneak peek is the nearly six-minute clip of Paul using a device called a thumper to summon a sandworm. These monsters are essential because they are the only known source of Spice. This is the most valuable commodity in the universe, which is why Arrakis is so vied over. The spice, or melange, is a by-product of the sandworm life cycle. Therefore, despite their ability to terrorize everyone in their path, these sandworms are crucial.

That said, they are extremely dangerous, so the concept of summoning one to your location is a bit of an oxymoron. But that is exactly what we see happen in this sneak peek. It is Paul Atreides’s final step in becoming a member of the Fremen. Their relationship is crucial because the people are his only chance at getting revenge for his family’s death.
The clip shows Paul succeeding, and the Fremen cheer for him as Chani lets out a sigh of relief. The tension built with the thumper slamming into the ground and the sandworm’s arrival sounding like a rocketship taking off offer a promising look at the cinematography in Dune: Part Two.
It also begs the question: If Warner Bros. is willing to show this epic scene for free, what are we in for in theaters?
