Art for Dragon Quest at Home

During this time of staying at home for months on end, we crave distractions. It’s one of the main reasons we all downloaded Animal Crossing: New Horizons. But there are times when we need to unplug and complete a “Spot the Difference” puzzle or do a slime origami. Fortunately, the good people at Square Enix and Dragon Quest have us covered.

Dragon Quest at Home was first announced in May as part of Square Enix’s “Stay Home and Play” campaign to keep people at home during the coronavirus pandemic. This provided a few fun activities to pass the time by fully immersing people into all things Dragon Quest. Activities and items included:

  • coloring sheets
  • Dragon Quest Builders 2 origami
  • monster pixel art sheets
  • spot the difference sheets
  • virtual backgrounds

The coloring sheets are the cover illustrations for “Dragon Quest Yusha Brill (Hero’s Workbooks),” “Dragon Quest Nazo Nazo Book (Book of Riddles)” and “Dragon Quest Asobi Ehon (Activity Picture Book).” There are coloring pages for younger children from “Slime Pi Pi Pi.” The Dragon Quest Builders 2 origami kits come in blue, green and orange so you can make as many as you need. The monster pixel art sheets come with beginner, intermediate and advanced options.

And lastly are the virtual backgrounds. Now you can join those Zoom, Teams or Skype meetings in legendary style with backgrounds from Dragon Quest, Dragon Quest II, Dragon Quest III, Dragon Quest X Online, Dragon Quest of the Stars, and Dragon Quest Walk. There are also a few backgrounds from Luida’s Bar, the popular Dragon Quest-themed restaurant in Tokyo. This is probably for people like me who will never get an opportunity to go there in person.

In addition to these activities and virtual backgrounds, the Japanese Dragon Quest Stay Home and Play website also as a couple of recipes, including Slime Coffee Chiffon Cupcakes and Slime Chopped Bread.

Personally, I will be decorating my desk with slimes. It’s what Erdrick would do.
