There is a God, and she’s dead set on bringing a third season of Doom Patrol to fruition. The DC screwball comedy has been renewed for Season Three which will air exclusively on HBO Max, TV Line reports. Doom Patrol, the brainchild of creator Jeremy Carver, has blossomed into a cult favorite among comic book lovers.
Now, Season Three is slated for a 2021 premiere. The big news was announced at DC FanDome on Saturday. Carver made a statement at the event:
“On behalf of the wonderful cast, writers and crew, we are thrilled and grateful for the opportunity to return to Doom Manor. And we are especially thankful for our partners at Berlanti Productions, Warner Bros. Television, DC Universe and, of course, HBO Max.”
Doom Patrol Season Two ended last month on a massive cliffhanger due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. Production abruptly shut down, resulting in a lost episode. We last saw our core members encased in wax as Niles’ daughter Dorothy forged ahead into battle against the Candlemaker.
At the DC FanDome event, Carver hinted that Season Three of Doom Patrol will delve into the identity claiming to be “Miranda.” Of course, there will also be a resolution to the nail-biting fight between Dorothy and Candlemaker.
Doom Patrol is a unique creation, and certainly a standout among DC’s usual roster. It’s an innovative comic book comedy that I hope continues on for seasons to come.
Doom Patrol stars Diane Guerrero, April Bowlby, Brendan Fraser, Timothy Dalton, Joivan Wade, Matt Bomer, Riley Shanahan, and Matthew Zuk. You can watch the first two seasons on HBO Max and the DC Universe app.
