Doom Patrol is back, baby! Well, not just yet, but the screwball DC Universe series will be back for a second season at an unannounced date. Thanks to TVLine, we learned that a major character has finally been cast. Everyone be sure to welcome Abigail Shapiro as the reoccurring character Dorothy Spinner, the 11-year-old daughter of Niles Caulder, a.k.a. The Chief.

In-universe, there’s not too much we know about Spinner, other than that glimpse of her we had at the end of season one. Her character description does give us a teensy bit more information.

Niles loves her very much and has gone through great sacrifice to protect her, and the world, from her special abilities. Now that she is no longer hidden, Niles will go to even greater lengths to protect her.

So while the show may not entirely focus on keeping Dorothy safe, it could very well be a major plot line throughout the second season. What will her powers manifest as? Just how much strength does she have as the “world’s most powerful little girl”? These are questions we can’t wait to see explored in the upcoming season, set to debut on both DC Universe and the brand new streaming service, HBO Max.

What do you think of the news? Are you looking forward to a storyline with Dorothy? Let us know! Be sure to come back to Geek Girl Authority for more DC TV news.

Doom Patrol stars Diane Guerrero, April Bowlby, Alan Tudyk, Matt Bomer, Brendan Fraser, Timothy Dalton, and Jovian Wade.
