Season 1
Season 1 premiered last week with “Space Babies” and “The Devil’s Chord.” These episodes and the Christmas special, “The Church on Ruby Road,” teased a grand mystery at play regarding Ruby Sunday’s identity and parentage.
Additionally, “The Devil’s Chord” introduced us to Maestro (Jinkx Monsoon), the child of the Toymaker (Neil Patrick Harris), both of whom are gods from the Pantheon. Maestro warned about the imminent arrival of “the one who waits,” as did their father in the 60th anniversary special, “The Giggle.”
So, who is “the one who waits”? Who is Ruby? Could our titular Time Lord square off against a god more powerful than Maestro and the Toymaker? Only time will tell.
Doctor Who airs new episodes every Friday at 7 PM on Disney+ and midnight every Saturday on BBC iPlayer.
