The official Doctor Who YouTube channel has just released some interesting new promotional material ahead of the upcoming twelfth season, airing New Year’s Day 2020.
The first of such videos is a spunky introduction to the thirteenth Doctor (Jodie Whittaker), outlining the basis of the show to potential new viewers. This will be the second season headed by Whittaker and led by showrunner, Chris Chibnall. Check it out below!
Whilst such information presented in this short video is common knowledge to Whovians, the second clip released by the BBC will be far more intriguing for them.

A preview for the season 12 premiere, entitled ‘Spyfall’, gives us a glimpse at the first episode of this long-awaited new season. Watch below!
In this minute-long clip we see two of the Doctor’s companions, Yasmin (Mandip Gill) and Ryan (Tosin Cole) alongside an as yet unnamed character, played by guest actor, British comedy legend, Lenny Henry.
It would appear that they are interrogating a wealthy philanthropist, however what role he will play in the New Year’s Day special remains to be seen. Although perhaps a new foe to the Doctor given his brief appearances in the main season 12 trailer.

Nevertheless, these short clips alone hype up our excitement for this new season with the thirteenth Doctor and her trio of companions after a year-long hiatus.
