We finally have an official trailer for the highly anticipated Doctor Who Christmas special. Titled Doctor Who: Joy to the World, said special sees the Fifteenth Doctor save Earth this holiday season alongside Joy, his companion.
Here’s a brief synopsis per Disney:
“When Joy checks into a London hotel in 2024, she opens a secret doorway to the Time Hotel — discovering danger, dinosaurs and the Doctor. But a deadly plan is unfolding across the Earth, just in time for Christmas.”

The Cast and Crew
Joy to the World stars Ncuti Gatwa as the Doctor, Nicola Coughlan as Joy Almondo, Joel Fry as Trev Simpkins, Peter Benedict as Basil Flockhart, Julia Watson as Hilda Flockhart, Stephanie de Whalley as Anita Benn, Niamh Marie Smith as Sylvia Trench and Jonathan Aris as Melnak the Hotel Manager. Alex Pillai directs from a script written by Steven Moffat. Current showrunner Russell T. Davies serves as executive producer.
In the trailer, Trev informs Fifteen that they’re doing “Christmas everywhere all at once.” After stumbling into the “wrong room” on a train with a ham and cheese toastie and a pumpkin latte, our fave Time Lord meets Joy in her hotel room with Melnak, a Silurian.
What transpires next is a whirlwind adventure through the Time Hotel. This includes a dinosaur encounter and Fifteen coming face-to-face with … himself.
