Allons-y! On Tuesday, the official Doctor Who social media accounts unveiled a first look at the cover of Doctor Who Magazine‘s upcoming issue. Additionally, the studio revealed character posters featuring the Fourteenth Doctor (David Tennant), Donna Noble (Catherine Tate), the Fifteenth Doctor (Ncuti Gatwa) and Ruby Sunday (Millie Gibson).
These teases are a few of many hints for the highly anticipated 60th Anniversary Specials. Russell T Davies, the showrunner who helped revive the long-running sci-fi series in 2005 and is at the helm once again, has undoubtedly given Whovians plenty to be excited about.
The 60th Anniversary Specials find Tennant steering the TARDIS as the Fourteenth Doctor this time, and he’s got a few questions. Why did this face return? Is it to say goodbye? Donna Noble is back for more adventure, but what does her destiny hold?
Each 60th Anniversary Special episode has a title. Firstly, we have “The Star Beast,” followed by “Wild Blue Yonder” and “The Giggle.” Besides Tennant, Tate, Gatwa and Gibson, these special episodes also star Yasmin Finney as Rose Temple-Noble, Karl Collins as Shaun Temple, Ruth Madeley as Shirley Anne Bingham, Miriam Margolyes, Neil Patrick Harris and the late Bernard Cribbins as Wilfred Mott.
Here’s what Davies had to say regarding what’s in store for Whovians:
“The titles are just the beginning of the Doctor’s biggest adventure yet. Autumn is coming, with three hours of danger, Donna and disaster about to be unleashed!”
The gorgeous character posters showcase our out-of-this-world cast on a cosmic, starry background, with the Fourteenth Doctor brandishing his sonic screwdriver and the Fifteenth Doctor striking a pose worthy of our fave Time Lord.
