On Sunday, fans were able to enjoy the latest Doctor Who episode in the 12th series of the long-running show. It was an episode filled with surprises and returns, all of which were very, very welcomed. However, the return of one major character has all of our eyebrows raised at the possibilities they could take the character. From here on out – spoilers, sweetie.

The episode “Fugitive of Judoon” featured the return of Captain Jack Harkness (John Barrowman), a part-time companion of The Doctor and series lead in the spin-off series Torchwood. It’s been a long time since we’ve seen his smiling face so his return was a surprise! Unfortunately for all of us, he was not able to meet the latest incarnation of The Doctor. Though he did get to snog Graham (Bradley Walsh) after mistaking him for his favorite Time Lord, so he has that going for him.

Barrowman has been a very outspoken supporter of bringing the character back so for him it’s a thrill. “I always said I would do it at the drop of a hat,” he said in a featurette marking his return. He noted that revisiting the character was very easy – almost like putting on an old coat. Another unfortunate is that we don’t know if and when he’ll return. I’m curious to see what they end up doing with his character. Here’s hoping he gets to reunite with The Doctor once more before the season ends, though!

What did you think of the return of Captain Jack Harkness? Are you excited to see him resurface or do you want something brand new from the series? Let us know! Be sure to come back to Geek Girl Authority for more Doctor Who news.
