Marvel Studios dropped our first look at the next film within the MCU – Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness! Fans who have gotten the chance to see Spider-Man: No Way Home will recognize the teaser as the film’s final end credits scene. It gives us our first honest look into what is going on in the movie and a few faces we can expect to help Doctor Strange (Benedict Cumberbatch) along the way.
The trailer for Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness opens with Wong (Benedict Wong) warning Strange not to cast a spell and Mordo (Chiwetel Ejiofor) chiming in that his desecration of reality won’t go unpunished. Is this the spell that he cast for Spider-Man (Tom Holland) in the previous film, or does that just the tip of the iceberg for Strange, who decides it is time to play a bit more with reality? What does he mean it was the only way? As the trailer continues, we learn that this spell has warped everything he knows by opening up different doors to the Multiverse.

So, who does he turn to? First, he finds Wanda (Elizabeth Olsen), who thinks he is visiting about Westview. But he has other things he needs. It seems like the only other person who might have an idea about the Multiverse is Wanda. We also get a glimpse of Xochitl Gomez‘s Miss America and Rachel McAdams Christine Palmer. Plus an evil Doctor Strange? Things seem to have gotten a bit out of hand and I don’t know how they will be able to piece the Multiverse back together. Will the big bad be evil Doctor Strange? Or are they hiding that for a later reveal?
I don’t think I have been as excited for a Marvel movie as I am for Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness in a long time. The trailer doesn’t just give us a glimpse at the story and characters, but the feeling and tone of the film. We get the horror-esque feels at the beginning of the trailer that had me excited mixed with music that will get you on the edge of your seat. It looks and feels like a superhero film by unique enough that it sets itself away from the others. This is a great first showing that will only continue to top itself until the film’s release. Bravo, Sam Raimi.
Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness will hit theaters on May 6, 2022. We’ve dropped the trailer below for your enjoyment! What do you think of this first look? Let us know in the comments below and on social media!
