It’s official. We’ve taken one more step towards the rabbit hole that will end up being Marvel’s foray into the mystical, magical and weird. Scott Derrickson tweeted out yesterday that he’s flown to London to start production on the film, Doctor Strange, starring Benedict Cumberbatch in the titular role of Stephen Strange, a surgeon turned sorcerer after a terrible accident irreparably damages his hands.
Leaving now for London to make Doctor Strange.

The film also stars Chiwetel Ejiofor as Baron Mordo, one of Doctor Strange’s biggest nemeses in the comics. It’s been suggested that he may not be a cut and dry villain for this production. Tilda Swinton has been cast as well, though her role has gone unconfirmed. Initial reports claimed that she was playing The Ancient One, though that’s since been called into question.
The film is due to hit theaters next November!
