The key to the Tardis is up for grabs, and we’re going to find out sooner than later who will wield it. In a stunning move, the BBC is soon going to reveal the identity of the 13th Doctor. Many expected that the announcement might come during SDCC, but it will be here slightly sooner than that.
BBC America and the Official Doctor Who Twitter page announced on Friday that they will be releasing the name of the new Doctor after the Wimbledon Men’s final on July 16th. There are many reasons that they may have chosen this date and time, but it’s a pretty interesting choice, as Game of Thrones Season 7 premieres on the same night. It turns out Sunday, July 16th 2017 is something of a geek holiday!

There are many rumors about who might be lucky number 13. Kris Marshall, in particular, has gotten a lot of attention since his exit from Death in Paradise. He’s a controversial figure, though, with that rumor getting a lot of mixed response from fans; so it’s dicey.
You can see Geek Girl Authority‘s own Leona Laurie‘s wishes for the next Doctor HERE in her ‘The Case for the Next Doctor’ series.
So if you’re not glued to the tennis match on Sunday night, stay tuned to GGA for all of your 13th Doctor needs!
