DND Direct 2022: DRAGONLANCE Returns to Dungeons and Dragons

The final announcement to grace us during Wizards of the Coast‘s first-ever DND Direct is by far one of our favorites. Giant space hamsters and vampirates aside, the official return of Dragonlance to the world of Dungeons and Dragons is all we needed to hear. But they did us one better. The announcement came in the form of a teaser trailer narrated by Shohreh Aghdashloo. Need I say more? Don’t worry, I will.

The information surrounding the return of Dragonlance is relatively slim but exciting nonetheless. Players will experience the iconic story through two styles of gameplay. The first is Dragonlance: Shadow of the Dragon Queen. This adventure book gives us a brand new story that takes place during the beginning stages of the War of the Lance. We don’t know much about how the story will play out, but we know it will be grand. And if the trailer is any indication, it is going to be packed with action.

The second format is through the new boxed battle game Warriors of Krynn. This is where the true mystery lies. We know next to nothing about the game except that it’s a battle game that is coming in a big black box. We assume it will feature lots of exciting minis and an adventure different from the Dragonlance: Shadow of the Dragon Queen campaign book. Both formats are set to release in late 2022, so we expect Wizards of the Coast to have more information for us over the next few months. Maybe a more in-depth look at Warriors of Krynn? Or perhaps a peek into the adventure book?

Wizards of the Coast knew that ending their very first DnD Direct with Dragonlance would ensure that everyone involved was swooning. We’ve dropped the new trailer below so you can experience the excitement right along with us. Are you ready to head into this adventure? Let us know in the comments below and on social media!
