We have all seen our favorite table top games transition to video game format over the years. But now we are getting one of our favorite video games in a four player table top game! Based on Divinity Original Sin II by Larian Studios, we now have the upcoming Divinity Original Sin: The Board Game developed in partnership by Lynnvander Studios. The board game will expand on the Divinity world by adding in new stories, side quests, items, skills and much more. Larian Studios opened their kickstarter on Wednesday November 20, 2019 and in just under four hours the game was fully funded. Now just four days after its initial start and with still 25 days to go, they have raised $682,327. This means that they have cleared all but one of their stretch goals and they aren’t took far from that last one!
Divinity Original Sin: The Board Game will be a four player co-op adventure role playing game that will have the choices you make affect how the game will continue on and eventually end. They use the chronicle system to help facilitate how not only this adventure will play out, but future Divinity Original Sin board games will turn out as well. Each game will have a special code that players can use to submit your adventures and choices you made straight back to Lynnvander Studios. In turn they will look at wha the vast majority of players did and use that to adjust the next game. For instance if the vast majority of players save a specific family of merchants, they are going to remember that you saved them during the next game.

Now this doesn’t mean you only get one play through. You can replay Divinity Original Sin: The Board Game multiple times to see how different choices affect the outcome of the game and the path you delve down. Now the game might seem a bit intimidating, but the Larian Studios crew have set up helpful videos to show players how such things as crafting, combat and overall game play work to get you ready for your next adventure.
The kickstarter has 3 reward tiers starting at $120, $165 and $220. The first tier includes the game and all of the stretch goals. The second tier includes the game, stretch goals, boss upgrade pack, metal coin set, extra dice, and upgraded leather bags. The final reward tier features everything from one and two plus the two side quest boxes. But the fun doesn’t stop there! Backers can add additional add ons to their pledge to pick up minis, dice, bags, and even side quest boxes.
To learn more or to pledge you can check out their kickstarter here. It will be live until December 20, 2019. All pledges will receive their items October 2020 and can be delivered anywhere in the world.
