From the latest trailer for Disney‘s Artemis Fowl, it looks like the movie has done a complete overhaul. Most notably with the casting of Colin Farrell as the elder Artemis Fowl. Originally, the father character did not have an actor attached to the role and it is possible that Farrell was added in during reshoots after the film’s release date was pushed back.
The younger Artemis is portrayed by Ferdia Shaw a newcomer to the movie scene. From the trailer, we know that the elder Artemis sets out for a job leaving behind his son but ends up kidnapped and a manhunt begins with suspicions that he is behind some of the biggest robberies ever. Young Arty then learns just who his father is and what is going on behind closed doors. Now it is his turn to save his father and, save the day.
The trailer for Artemis Fowl introduces more than just Colin Farrell to the cast though. It helps to introduce the world beyond our own where fairies, dwarves and other magical creatures exits. Fans of the book written by Eoin Colfer have spoken out against changes made for the on-screen version. It will be interesting to see how well received the movie is once it has been released.
Artemis Fowl is set to release on May 29, 2020 in theaters.
