Now that Disney Plus has named the main lead in its upcoming adaptation of Rick Riordan‘s Percy Jackson, it’s time to talk about the supporting characters. Today, Variety shared exclusive casting news surrounding the characters of Grover Underwood and Annabeth Chase. Joining the series alongside Walker Scobell (Percy) will be Aryan Simhadri and Leah Sava Jeffries.
Riordan’s Percy Jackson follows the titular 12-year-old modern demigod who learns of his connection to the Greek pantheon just as the skies open up and Zeus blames him for stealing his master lightning bolt. Talk about not having enough time to come to terms with destiny. This sends Percy on a journey across America to uncover who is really behind the theft alongside his friends Grover and Annabeth.

Grover is a satyr disguised as a 12-year-old boy who cares deeply about others. He is always making his choices based on what will help others, even at the expense of himself. While he can be cautious at times, he is always willing to throw himself into a fight to protect Percy and Annabeth. Speaking of Annabeth, she is the true daughter of the Greek goddess Athena. Like her mom, Annabeth is a brilliant strategist and has spent the last five years at Camp Half-Blood.
Now that we have the three main characters for Percy Jackson cast, we can get this show underway! It looks as if the first season will follow the events of Riordan’s first novel, Percy Jackson & the Olympians: The Lightning Thief. However, that doesn’t mean that they can’t take the chance to set up future seasons and pull from the other novels as well. All is fair (no matter how much we may dislike it) in TV adaptations. So far, Disney Plus has done a great job with casting and we are excited to see who else will join the project.
