Jonah Hauer-King joins The Little Mermaid life action movie

It’s been a long search, but Prince Eric has finally been found for Disney’s The Little Mermaid live action remake. According to Deadline, Jonah Hauer-King will play Eric in the Rob Marshall film.  He’s even got the dimples! He joins Halle Baily as Ariel, Melissa McCarthy as Ursula, Javier Bardem as as King Triton, Daveed Diggs as Sebastian, Jacob Tremblay as Flounder, and Awkwafina as Scuttle.

Hauer-King is a British actor with a degree from Cambridge.  He actually has duel citizenship in the UK and the US.  His most recent work includes BBC/Masterpiece limited series Little Women with Maya Hawke.

The Little Mermaid remake produced by Marshall, John DeLuca, Marc Platt and Lin-Manuel Miranda.  And yes, the remake will feature songs from the original animated film, as well as some new songs.

This film is among the Disney films adapted from animation to live action.  Disney just released the live action Lady and the Tramp on the Disney+ streaming service just this week.

Apparently Hauer-King can sing too, but I don’t remember Eric singing. It’s not ruled out though with the addition of new songs to the film.  This film is a long way away from release so we’ll see what happens.

The Little Mermaid is still in development stages. Check back with Geek Girl Authority for the latest news on this film.
