Disney and Marvel fans, you might want to sit down for this. As reported by Variety, the mega-company postponed a handful of highly anticipated releases, citing production as the reason and not box office returns.
So, what’s getting pushed back? Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, Thor: Love and Thunder, The Marvels, Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania and Indiana Jones 5.

Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings proved to be a box office success for Disney, serving as the first Marvel film to premiere exclusively in theaters amid the pandemic. Eternals is slated for release on November 5, which will also be a theater-only flick.
As mentioned above, production is the reason, which could still be related to the ongoing Coronavirus pandemic. However, despite the overall dip in theater visits, even the entertainment juggernaut’s blockbusters appear to be thriving during these turbulent times.
Meanwhile, earlier movies like Black Widow, Cruella and Raya and the Last Dragon received limited, Premier Access runs on Disney Plus concurrently with their respective theatrical releases.
The studio commits to big-screen showings, but who’s to say what happens in the future with the unpredictable pandemic? The rest of the company’s movie slate for this year will premiere in theaters for 45 days before moving to digital platforms. As of yet, there’s no word on its plans beyond 2021.
Here’s the revised schedule for the films above:
Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness: May 6, 2022
Thor: Love and Thunder: July 8, 2022
Black Panther: Wakanda Forever: November 11, 2022
The Marvels: February 17, 2023
