One thing that everyone can agree on is this – Thor: Ragnarok was a fun movie. The atmosphere was light, the comedy was aplenty, everything was bright and colorful. And we’ve heard from those involved that a big part of it was because of the man behind and in front of the camera. Well now we have proof in this blooper/gag reel (that’s really more of a highlight reel) of director/actor Taika Waititi‘s on set antics.
The whole thing starts with his impromptu singing and playfully taking on things in the Marvel logo. Calling out the “random text” and “a British guy”, you know you’re off to a good start. From the moment he appears on screen, it’s just a barrage of fun and laughs as Waititi is goofing around on set. Tessa Thompson mentions that a day on set with him included hi-jinks and dancing – noting that he’s a big kid. This being said while we’re shown Waititi hanging on to the front of a ship, giving a goofy pose. Star Chris Hemsworth goes on to say that it’s the most “light-hearted, fun set” he’s ever been on. So they probably barely felt like they were working at all.
Honestly, you need to see the clip. I was grinning ear to ear just watching his antics. Waititi is such a unique presence and a much needed shake up for the Marvel films. With any hope, he’ll return to the Marvel universe to take Thor out on another galaxy-crossing adventure.
