Via comicbook.com, , we’ve got our first look at Josh Boone’s New Mutants script. Josh Boone, who’s directing and co-writing the project for Fox, was just announced earlier this year, so it’s impressive to see this much work already done.
Of course, we have no idea if there’s any actual content on those pages or if the content is any good, but still, seeing progress on anything regarding the New Mutants is exciting.
The New Mutants, for this wondering, are the first real spin-off team fro the X-Men and introduced such characters as Cannonball, Mirage, Wolfsbane and Sunspot into the greater X-Universe. They were a new batch of mutant students that Professor X took under his care, a sort of next generation of the X-Men. This team went on to introduce Domino, Warpath, Warlock and Cable into the Marvel Mythology as well as bringing Illyana Rasputin into the world in a major way, renaming her Magik. New Mutants also first introduced Deadpool before becoming X-Force two issues later, the team led by Cable.
With the character of Cable being talked about now as a possible antagonist for the Deadpool sequel, it’s entirely possible that this New Mutants film could introduce the next generation of mutants to the silver screen, or at the very least be the genesis of the X-Force team.
