It’s happening! Battlestar Galactica fans can breathe a temporary sigh of relief. Director Francis Lawrence (Red Sparrow) has confirmed that he’s continuing work on the BSG movie with Westworld co-creator Lisa Joy.
Lawrence has a special affinity for the original BSG series, so it will have references to the original. But, he said that it will be a mix of influences. It looks like this film will reboot the series once again.

Comingsoon.net conducted an interview with the director. He had this to say: “We’re all fans of both series so there will definitely be nods, but for it to be worth doing for us we have to have our own take on it. Without getting into too much detail, there is thematic kind of stuff to make it relevant today. What makes something interesting to do is if there’s a relevance to the world we live in now.”
Who knows where this project will end up going. It’s still in the development phase, and anything could happen. That’s clear. But, BSG fans can take heart that some very capable fans of the BSG universe are working on their spin. I, for one, can’t wait to behold the result! So say we all.
