Today we got our first look at the new animated film Wonder Woman: Bloodlines. Set in the New 52 continuity, Diana is sent on a mission to save mankind – but the biggest threat will come from her own home.
The trailer starts with the story we’re all pretty well versed in now. Steve crashes his plane in the waters of Themyscira and is rescued by Diana. Seeing his arrival as a sign, she abandons her home and fights for mankind. Diana and Steve have teamed up to take out baddies before attempting some diplomatic solutions. However, things start to get out of hand and some of Diana’s greatest foes come to fight the former princess. Doctor Poison and Cyber take it a step further and bring war upon Themyscira. While the Amazons can handle many things, they won’t be able to win this fight without their Wonder Woman. Will she be able to get home in time?
One of my biggest gripes about the film is that it’s incredibly odd that they started the film with her origin story. It’s okay to skip her origin of saving Steve, guys! Besides that, I’m actually looking forward to this. I really like that all of her enemies are going to be female. Giganta, Cheetah, Silver Swan, Doctor Poison, and more. Always here for that female representation! Plus those villains are all interesting and fun. Here’s hoping they can pull it off!

The film stars the vocal talent of Rosario Dawson, Jeffrey Donovan, Marie Avgeropoulos, Adrienne C. Moore, Kimberly Brooks, Courtenay Taylor, Constance Zimmer, Nia Vardalos, Michael Dorn, Cree Summer, Mozhan Marno, and Ray Chase.
In Wonder Woman: Bloodlines, Amazon princess Diana of Themyscira chooses to save fighter pilot Steve Trevor and return him to his home in America – setting in motion one of Wonder Woman’s most captivating chapters. Fulfilling the role of both ambassador as well as protector, Diana soon earns the name Wonder Woman from the gracious people of Earth. Equally strong in body, heart and will, she makes it her mission to help a troubled young girl enlisted by a deadly organization known as Villainy, Inc., whose criminal members have their sights set on invading Themyscira, Diana’s paradise home.
Wonder Woman: Bloodlines will be released on Blu-ray and Digital sometime this year.
