Let there be blood! American Gods released an official trailer for Season Three on Thursday, and we’re thanking the old gods and new gods for it! The Starz series, based on the popular novel by Neil Gaiman, is slated for its third installment in 2021.

The trailer boasts an excellent cover of Frank Sinatra‘s “My Way” by Superhuman. We see Wednesday (Ian McShane) up to his typical antics and, as per usual, folks are out to kill him. Shadow Moon (Ricky Whittle) is fed up with Wednesday’s war and seeks out a quieter life in Lakeside. Laura Moon (Emily Browning) enlists the aid of a good-natured leprechaun named Liam Doyle (Iwan Rheon) in slaughtering Wednesday. Additionally, the trailer briefly introduces us to Blythe Danner‘s Demeter and Marilyn Manson‘s “Viking death metal frontman.”

Neil Gaiman is one of my favorite authors of all time. As an avid fan of the book, I’m elated that American Gods is broaching Lakeside material territory. I hope the show does it justice. I’m sure Gaiman’s heavy involvement with American Gods will ensure accuracy from page to screen. One of the best aspects of this series is its fantastic casting. As far as I’m concerned, nobody else could play Wednesday like McShane. I’m also tickled to see more of Rheon’s Doyle in the upcoming season.
