Down in Brazil this past weekend the country was treated to their yearly comic con, called CCXP. We’ve heard some news from there about Spider-Man: Homecoming as well as had our first looks at the character designs for Hulk and Thor in the upcoming Thor: Ragnarok.
But Fox Studios was also down there and they showed the first full scene of their upcoming film, Logan, which will see Hugh Jackman’s last hurrah as the clawed, berserking mutant. Thankfully, Universo X-Men was at the panel to see the footage and they gave us a full report from there. (Thanks to Comicbook.com for linking us to the story).
Think back to the trailer where, at some point, we see Logan (Hugh Jackman), Professor Xavier (Patrick Stewart) and Laura Kinney (Dafne Keen) all sitting around a dinner table and smiling.
This is the scene that they showed and we have a description of. Apparently, what’s happening in this scene is that a kind family has taken the three mutants into their house for a nice family dinner. According to X-Men Films, who translated the original text from Portuguese, the trio is “on the run, fleeing from someone and don’t reveal to the family that they’re mutants”.
As they go about their dinner, the mutants are asked about why they’re on the road, which causes Xavier and Logan to give two different responses, which the sight describes as “comedic.”
To add to the awkwardness of three strangers crashing a family dinner, Laura is described as “acting wild, eating dinner with her hands and no silverware”. Logan then tries to “teach her how to eat and there’s a sense of a father-daughter type relationship between them”.
In an attempt to explain away Laura’s strange behavior, Logan “tells the family that Xavier used to be a school principal,” to which Xavier adds that it was a “school for students with special needs”.
And, as we all know, they were very VERY special needs.
He has two cats and knows all things about Doctor Strange but little else.
