The holidays are upon us, and winter is in full swing. So, what better time to cuddle up and ignore that stress with a new video game? While December is a bit light on releases, quite a few still have our attention. Keep reading to find out our most anticipated video games for December! What ones are on your list? And what games from this year are you still enjoying?
The Day Before
If you think Mytonia Fntastic’s The Day Before sounds ominous – you would be right. This is an open-world MMO set on the East Coast after a deadly pandemic. The main goal is to survive at all costs. Players won’t just be facing off against deadly zombies but their friends and other players. But it isn’t all war. Players will also be helping to rebuild civilization and supporting an up-and-coming colony. For those who love survival zombie-type video games, this is a must-play.
A Highland Song
We got our first look at A Highland Song this summer during the Wholesome Direct 2023, and now it is almost here. Fans of games like Celeste will be excited to see A Highland Song, which follows the story of a girl called Moira McKinnon who runs away from her home in the Scottish Highlands after receiving a letter from her Uncle Hamish. Explore the highlands and unearth secrets as you travel to the coast, searching for his lighthouse.
Would it be a most anticipated video game list without a true horror game? To round out the happy holidays, we have Optimal Games’ Unwelcome. The 80s-themed horror game takes place at the Silver Valley Nature Park after dark. What starts as a relatively peaceful shift soon turns into something downright terrifying. Players must quietly navigate the park while being hunted by a killer. Seems easy enough? Right?
Unwelcome drops on December 23, 2023, for PC through Steam.
Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora
We have been waiting for the upcoming game based on James Cameron‘s Avatar series for a few years, but our patience will be rewarded. The recent trailers for Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora focus more heavily on the combat, but the stunning music and soundscaping really sold me. It seems like it is going to play like the Far Cry series crossed with Horizon Zero Dawn with a unique environment. I honestly can’t wait to become a Na’vi and fly through the forests of Pandora.
Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora will be released for PS5, PC through Ubisoft and Xbox Series X/S on December 7, 2023.
