We’ve made it to December: the last month of the year! But before we close out 2019, we’ve still got a few new games to play! Here are the releases that we’re looking forward to grabbing this December.

Arise: A Simple Story

If we’re just going on artistic style alone, Arise: A Simple Story is by far one of the most beautiful games I have seen. Piccolo Studio has built a story that will pull at our heartstrings as players traverse through an ever-changing landscape. The game features a time mechanic that allows players to alter and bend it to their will. You can experience the game in single-player mode or have a friend join to help balance the job of stopping time and restarting it.

Arise: A Simple Story is now available for the PS4.

Life is Strange 2

The final episode in DONTNODLife is Strange 2 is releasing this month. So many people, myself included, are interested in seeing how all of this will end. This development team has always done a fantastic job with narratives, and this series is no exception. The rollercoaster of emotions we have felt over the last four episodes is bound to overflow and I am here for it.

Life is Strange 2 Episode 5, is now available for the PC through Steam, PS4 and Xbox One.

Vampire: The Masquerade – Coteries of New York

Prepare to stick your fangs into the latest addition to the Vampire: The Masquerade video game family. In Vampire: The Masquerade – Coteries of New York, you take control of a young vampire fledgling from one of three vampire clans: Brujah, Toreador, and Ventrue. Throughout this text-based game, you’ll be making choices that will forever impact the Vampire world around you. Likewise, each clan has their own unique powers, but this power comes at a cost. Throughout the game, you’ll have to balance your thirst and humanity in order not the break…the Masquerade!

Vampire: The Masquerade – Coteries of New York will be available on December 11, 2019 for the PC through Steam

Detroit: Become Human

Earlier this year, Quantic Dream announced that its previously PlayStation-exclusive games would be made available on the Epic Games StoreHeavy Rain and Beyond: Two Souls arrived on the PC this past Summer, and now Detroit: Become Human will finally get its PC release. For those who aren’t familiar with the title, Detroit: Become Human is a decision-based adventure game set in the year 2038 and focuses on the theme of “machine morality”. Morevoer, the game follows three androids whose decisions (or rather, the player’s decisions) dramatically alter a city on the brink of chaos. With PC graphics to enhance Detroit: Become Human‘s already stunning visuals and performance capture, now is the time to decide our future and just how human YOU will become.

Detroit: Become Human will release exclusively on December 12, 2019 for the PC through the Epic Games store.

Wattam

Keita Takahashi, the creative mind behind Katamari Damacy, brings us a new game about friendship, love, and discovery in the wild world of Wattam! In this hilariously sweet and bizarre title, you must complete as many actions as you can by befriending other animated objects within the world around you. Buddy up with rain clouds and fly them over patches of grass to water flowers! Or play as a nose and use your sense of smell to find new friends! Additionally, Wattam offers both Solo and Co-Op modes. I personally cannot wait to explore the gameplay of this silly and sweet title!

Wattam will be available on December 17, 2019 for the PS4 and PC through Steam

Darksiders Genesis

If you are a fan of action RPGs and the Darksiders games then Darksiders Genesis will check all the boxes. This game, set before the events of Darksiders, Darksiders II, and Darksiders III, tells the tale of Strife and War as they set out to destroy Lucifer’s associates. What is unique about this game compared to the previous installments is its top-down Diablo-esque play style. Additionally, players can switch between Strife and War at any time or both can be used in Multiplayer. If you want to see a little more of the gameplay, you can check out this quick E3 2019 Demo of the game. And if you want to catch up on the Lore, there is this excellent video that takes you through the first three games.

Darksiders Genesis is now available for the PC (Steam) and Google Stadia. It will be released on consoles on February 14, 2020.

Overall

Even though there aren’t many AAA titles released this month, these releases shouldn’t be ignored! Each of these titles offers unique and fun gameplay to pass the time as we head into 2020. Overall, it’s been a pretty great year for gaming! And we can’t wait to see what next year holds!
