Deadwood fans have waited 13 years for this moment.  The Deadwood: The Movie trailer has arrived.  And, the gang’s all here!

The movie picks up 10 years after the final events of Deadwood season 3, when the series was so hastily cut off at the knees.  Deadwood is gaining a foothold as a town and being absorbed by the Union.  The West isn’t so wild anymore.  Or is it?  Swearengen (Ian McShane) is there, in the saloon, as always.  It’s his voice we hear talking about the town that he has so fiercely resided in all these years.  He and Seth Bullock (Timothy Olyphant) seem to have formed an alliance, and that’s good… because George Hearst (Gerald McRaney) is back.  Hearst’s presence is never good news.

But, there is very good news.  All of the characters you might have wished to see get just a little bit of face time in this teaser.  Alma (Molly Parker), Trixie (Paula Malcomson), Sol (John Hawkes), Joanie (Kim Dickens), Johnny Burns (Sean Bridgers) and E.B. Farnum (William Sanderson) all make appearances.  And, the whole reason to bring Deadwood back: Calamity Jane (Robin Weigert) is there too.  The only one we really needed to see and didn’t was Mr. Wu (Keone Young), but I expect that we’ll get our chance.

Former rivalries are reignited, alliances are tested and old wounds are reopened, as all are left to navigate the inevitable changes that modernity and time have wrought.

Deadwood: The Movie premieres on HBO May 13th.
