Team Vampire Diaries is back together again! This time, it’s for an adaptation of Ryan Parrott‘s Dead Day at Peacock. Julie Plec and Kevin Williamson will helm the supernatural drama for the streamer, which received a straight-to-series order.
Dead Day, a bestselling comic book series from AfterShock Comics, “follows an ensemble of characters as they navigate the annual ‘Dead Day,’ when for one night the dead come back to complete unfinished business — be that to celebrate a night back on earth or to torment the living.”

Plec and Williamson will serve as co-showrunners, writers and executive producers. Dead Day marks the first collaboration for the pair since The Vampire Diaries ended in 2017.
Currently, Plec helms the YA genre series Vampire Academy for Peacock based on the bestselling book series of the same name by Richelle Mead.
Williamson is the producer of Miramax thriller Sick, currently in post-production. He also served as executive producer for the latest Scream installment.
Plec and Williamson had this to say regarding their reunion:
We have been looking for a project to do together and Dead Day has all the ingredients we love as storytellers. Love, death, thrills and tears — and we know Susan Rovner and her team at Peacock is the perfect fit for this project.
So far, we don’t know anything about casting or a potential start date for production.
