Last month, Behaviour gave us a tiny peek at what we could expect for the next chapter in Dead by Daylight. And to say that I was excited that this announcement included a collaboration with Ringu would be an understatement. When I think back to horror films that added to my spiritual horror film awakening, Ringu sits high on this list. There was just something within the film that brought goosebumps to my skin and had me on the edge of my seat. And now, I can spend the rest of my gaming life being chased through the Fog by Sadako!
The initial Ringu teaser left much to the imagination, but thankfully, this new announcement trailer gives us even more information. First, we know that the killer joining the Fog will be Sadako herself and she is bringing Yoichi Asakawa with her to survive the horrors of the Entity. At first glance, you might not realize that this survivor is actually the seven-year-old son of the main protagonist in Ringu, Reiko Asakawa. He has been aged up for Dead by Daylight which makes me believe that the events that bring them to the Fog take place well after the films’ events.

The chapter is currently available on the PTB (player test build), where you can check out both characters’ backstories and their perks. You can also play as either character and check out what they both bring to the game. From the Dead by Daylight chapter trailer, we learn a few things. It looks like Sadako will travel across the map using old-school televisions. And yes, younger generations, those are TVs, I promise. We can also see that she almost phases as she chases you. Spooky girl is going to give me nightmares.
Dead by Daylight‘s Ringu chapter will hit live servers on March 8, 2022. Be sure to mark your calendars so you know precisely when the nightmare begins. Now is also the best time to start saving up those bloodpoints! The 4 vs. 1 asymmetrical horror game is available to play now on PC through Steam and the Epic Game Store. It can also be purchased for the PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 on the store, Xbox One and Xbox Series X through the store and for the Nintendo Switch through their store.
